Abilities
Pulse Grenade
Ability 1 · thrown grenade with repeating expanding pulses A grenade that sticks where it lands and then pulses repeatedly. Each pulse covers a wider radius, deals spirit damage, slows time for anyone caught, and stacks a damage amplification that Paradox herself benefits from against those targets.
What it is for: Her area denial and her damage setup. The stacking amp is the key: anyone who stays in the grenade takes progressively more damage from her, which is why every good Paradox pairs it with a swap or a carbine shot rather than throwing it alone.
- Damage
- 35 base pulse damage (deadlock.one). T2 adds +20 pulse damage with increased spirit scaling; T3 adds +4% damage amp and +1.6s duration. 32s cooldown per deadlock.io.
- Crowd control
- Time slow on each pulse — a movement slow that compounds while you remain inside.
- Defensive
- Thrown at her own feet it is a real anti-dive tool, slowing anyone who commits onto her.
How to play against it
- Leave immediately on the first pulse. Both the radius and the damage amp grow, so the cost of staying is non-linear — the third second is far worse than the first.
- The grenade is stationary and clearly visible on the ground; do not path through the area she has already seeded.
- If she has it down and you are outside it, that is the moment to engage her directly — it is her main zoning tool on a 32s cooldown.
Interactions
- deadlocklabs.gg describes her core pattern as swapping enemies into a waiting Pulse Grenade — the grenade is placed first, the swap delivers the target.
- The expanding radius means standing at the edge is not safe for long; the punished area grows each pulse.
- deadlock.io recommends placing it on escape routes rather than on the current position of a target.
Upgrade tiers
- T2: +20 pulse damage with increased spirit scaling.
- T3: +4% damage amp, +1.6s duration.
Time Wall
Ability 2 · deployable projectile-freezing wall with friendly bullet buff Paradox raises a wall of warped time that halts every enemy bullet and projectile that touches it, while speeding up and empowering friendly bullets passing through. Enemies who make contact are briefly slowed and silenced.
What it is for: A two-way tool: it is total projectile immunity for her side and a damage amp for her team's shooting, plus a silence on anyone who walks into it. It is her best anti-dive and her best siege tool at once.
- Damage
- No direct damage. T2 grants +35% weapon damage to friendly bullets passing through.
- Crowd control
- Brief slow plus a silence on contact (2.3s silence at T2).
- Defensive
- Stops enemy bullets and projectiles outright — against a projectile-heavy team it is close to an invulnerability window for whoever stands behind it.
How to play against it
- Walk around it rather than through it — the silence and slow only apply on contact, and its width is finite even at T1.
- Melee range and close-quarters pressure ignore the projectile-blocking entirely; a shotgun hero standing on her side of the wall is unaffected.
- Do not fire into it. Every bullet stopped is free value for her; hold fire and reposition to an angle the wall does not cover.
- Displacement (pulling her through or past her own wall) makes it useless.
Interactions
- The silence is what shuts down channel and cast-dependent ultimates — Mirage's Traveler and Lash's Death Slam both die to it.
- T3's +2 charges is a large spike, letting her wall two angles or re-wall mid-fight.
- It does not stop melee or hitscan-immune mechanics the way it stops projectiles, so read what your team actually shoots before relying on it.
Upgrade tiers
- T1: +3.5s duration, +3m width, +1m height.
- T2: 2.3s silence duration, +35% weapon damage for friendly bullets.
- T3: +2 ability charges.
Kinetic Carbine
Ability 3 · chargeable shot with a time-stop on hit Paradox winds up a round of condensed time energy that deals spirit damage and freezes whoever it hits in place. She moves faster while charging, and charging in the air slows her descent.
What it is for: Her hard pickup. A landed carbine is a full stop, which makes it both her primary combo enabler and the reason her duels go the way she wants. The time-stop, not the damage, is the ability.
- Damage
- Damage scales with weapon damage investment rather than being a flat spirit value; deadlock.one's listed base values appear unreliable and are not reproduced here. The 09-16-2026 patch cut the minimum damage multiplier hard, from 25% to 10%, which heavily punishes firing it uncharged. T3 adds +55% damage scaling.
- Crowd control
- A time-stop on the target — functionally a stun. Duration not sourced.
- Mobility
- +25% move speed while charging, and charging while airborne slows her fall.
- Defensive
- The move speed while charging lets her back out of a bad position while still threatening the shot.
How to play against it
- It is a charged skillshot with a visible wind-up and an audible cue. Break line of sight during the charge and she either loses the shot or fires it uncharged for 10% damage after the 09-16-2026 nerf.
- Strafe unpredictably while she is charging; the projectile has travel time and she must lead you.
- Force her to fire early by threatening her — a charged carbine she cannot safely hold is a wasted 28s cooldown.
Interactions
- The standard combo is Pulse Grenade placed, Kinetic Carbine to freeze the target inside it.
- The 09-16-2026 minimum-damage nerf (25% to 10%) means panic-firing an uncharged carbine is now nearly worthless; she must hold the charge.
- T3's +2s charge hold duration lets her keep it primed while repositioning, which is a large skill-expression gain.
Upgrade tiers
- T2: -12s cooldown, increased speed scaling.
- T3: +2s charge hold duration, +55% damage scaling.
Paradoxical Swap
Ultimate · targeted projectile that exchanges positions Paradox fires a bolt that, on hitting an enemy hero, trades her position with theirs.
What it is for: The defining displacement ultimate in the game. It removes an enemy from safety and drops them into her team, or removes a diver from on top of her ally and puts them somewhere useless — and it is the only ability of its kind at this range.
- Damage
- 150 damage, scaling with spirit power (deadlock.one, deadlock.io). 110s base cooldown, -30s at T2.
- Crowd control
- The displacement itself is the control effect — there is no stun attached at base.
- Mobility
- It relocates her to the target's position, which is simultaneously a gap-close and a serious positional risk.
- Defensive
- T1 grants a 200 barrier for 8s that scales with spirit, which is what stops her from dying instantly after swapping into an enemy group.
How to play against it
- It is a travelling projectile, not an instant target lock — sidestep it or break line of sight and a 110s ultimate is gone.
- After the swap SHE is standing where you were, usually alone next to your team. Turn and kill her rather than panicking about your new position.
- Do not stand in her Pulse Grenade's likely landing zone; the swap is only lethal because of what she swapped you into.
- At T3 the 7m group swap punishes clustering — spread out when she has ultimate up.
Interactions
- The canonical combo is Pulse Grenade thrown first, then swap a target into it (deadlocklabs.gg describes exactly this pattern).
- It is also the best counter-dive tool in the game: swapping the diver out of your backline is instant and unavoidable.
- T2's +13m cast range is a large practical buff — it lets her swap from behind her own frontline instead of stepping into range.
- deadlock.io warns that the swap puts HER where the enemy was; a swap without an exit plan is how Paradox players die.
Upgrade tiers
- T1: 200 barrier for 8s (scales with Spirit).
- T2: -30s cooldown, +13m cast range.
- T3: swaps all enemies within 7m of the hit target, +10% max health damage.
